Switching from BrightPay Desktop: common questions
When is BrightPay Desktop being retired in Ireland?
BrightPay has said the 2026 version of BrightPay for Windows will be supported for the full 2026 tax year, after which the desktop version will no longer receive updates, support or legislative compliance changes. BrightPay Connect is also no longer available to desktop licence holders from the start of 2027.
When should we start moving to a new payroll platform?
As early as possible. Ireland’s tax year runs from 1 January, so the first pay run of 2027 is a natural cut-over point. Starting now leaves time for data migration, parallel testing and training before year-end.
